Hello there Dancerfrog737,
Thanks for posting here on the Apple Support Communities! This is a place where other Apple users can submit questions or respond to others to help lend a hand. Let's take a closer look as we do our best to provide some additional insight.
How AirPlay is used in Monterey has changed a bit. AirPlay has moved from the Menu Bar to the built-in AirPlay icon shown on the video or content of what you're playing. For AirPlay mirroring your entire screen, you'd want to access the Control Center: Use AirPlay to stream what’s on your Mac to an HDTV
Make sure your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network.
Click the Screen Mirroring icon in the Control Center, then choose your Apple TV.
To set whether your desktop matches the size of the Mac screen or the TV screen, click the AirPlay status icon then choose This Mac or your Apple TV. When you’re using AirPlay Mirroring, the AirPlay status icon in the menu bar is blue.
Let us know if you have any more questions after checking that out. We’re here for you every step of the way.
Take care.
