My credit card randomly declined using Apple Pay

My credit card randomly declined using Apple Pay. Called Credit Card company and they say 'nowt to do with them'. Once declined on Apple Pay, I take out my card and it works.


Tried removing the card from wallet then re-loading. Worked for a few days then declined.


Can you help?

If you're finding this occurs while trying to use Apple Pay in a store, there may be certain instances where it is expected for Apple Pay not to work. Find your region in the Apple Support article About limits when using Apple Pay in stores - Apple Support, and see if any of the situations listed apply to when Apple Pay has been declined.

Set up Apple Pay in Wallet on iPhone using the steps specific to your situation below:

Add a credit or debit card

The card issuer determines whether your card is eligible for Apple Pay, and may ask you for additional information to complete the verification process.After the set-up process is complete you'll need to contact your card issuer for more help.

Thank you for the reply.


I’ve added the card several times and it has worked.


After several successful used the card was declined.


I contacted the credit card company (Halifax) and they say the problem is Apple Pay. They say they did not decline the transactions.


This appears about right as when the transaction has been declined using Apple Pay I immediately use the actual card to make the purchase and this has been successful on every occasion.


I have removed the card from the wallet and reloaded. Kinda reset! Works for a few then starts declining again.


My guess is this is Apple?


Would be grateful for any suggestions.
