How to connect apple studio to a non apple display

I want to connect an older non-apple display to my new studio M1 but unsure it can be done.

Why do I want to do this? Until the camera resolution in the new Studio Display, I don't want to purchase it. Also it would be better to have the HDMI connection, but not holding my breath on that one

Windows, Windows 10

The Mac Studio has an HDMI port, so connecting any display with HDMI should be as simple as attaching a cable.

Some displays connect directly using USB-C, so those also require an appropriate cable (not all cables are the same - for example the USB-C power cable for a MacBook Air is not the one you want).

For other display connections, like VGA, or DisplayPort, you will need an appropriate adapter and cable.
