(How) Can I COPY my desktop iTunes to my laptop?
I'd appreciate advice please.
AIM
I am NOT moving my iTunes from my desktop to a 'new' laptop, but I seek to copy some of my iTunes music, TV Progs, Books and Movies etc onto it. At the moment the laptop is basically just had a clean reinstall from scratch.
INFO
I have a large iTunes library on my Desktop PC.
I would like to have the same library on my 'new' Laptop - so my music library is accessible whichever computer I have with me at the time wherever I am.
In other words two installations of (the same?) iTunes library - one on the desktop, the other on the laptop.
So far, I have just installed 64bit iTunes on the Laptop but not run it.
The problems as I see them are:
COPY THE LIBRARY FILES?
Therefore I'm wondering if I COPY the files in just the Tunes root folder : iTunes Library Extras.itdb; iTunes Library Genius.itdb; iTunes Library Extras.itl, whether it will behave the same as the desktop and allow me to download my iTunes files from the iTunes store or wherever iTunes store them?
Or I guess alternatively, could/should I copy just a selection of files from my desktop PC to the correct folders in an empty iTunes laptop, and then use 'Add a file/Folder in iTunes'?
SIZE
The Desktop library is a few Tb on drive E. The Laptop is only 1Tb on drive C.
WHAT NEXT?
I don't want to mess up the desktop iTunes, or confuse the online part of iTunes so I'd like to try to avoid making problems if trying to get my stuff onto the laptop - which is why I'm asking here.
Some Knowledgeable person advice welcome here!
Thanks
