Broken iPhone, want to delete data from it before sold

Hi,
Unfortunately I dropped my iPhone and the screen is blank. The man in the shop said it is still working, just not the screen.
Due for contract renewal and upgrade it 2 weeks so not worth replacing but I have been told I could still sell it!

Before I sell it or even through it away I want to clear all the data off the phone. It is recently backed up to iTunes so that is fine.

How do I erase/delete the contents of the phone (music and Apps) without disturbing iTunes?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB SDRAM

Iknow in my neighborhood it's like $50 to fix the screen, I'm sure you can get your back.
It be worth it so your sure it clears.
and it may be hard for someone to buy if it's screen doesn't turn on ( or they may offer very little for it )

If u want I'll give u $10 as is because there can be alot more wrong with it after a drop besides just the screen.
