I wonder if these are the hidden metadata files that macOS makes that would normally be ignored. Can you look at the USB drive on a Windows PC to see what you can see. Any file that starts with a leading ._ is going to be something your car should really ignore, but if it doesn't you need to manually remove.

You can throw all those ._ files away.

Are you copying out files that were already added to the USB drive on a previous occasion? Music won't pay any attention to what is already in the destination directory.

I'm sure there are plenty. I generally stick to iTunes, but I've bought things from Amazon and BandCamp.
