I sent the text and attachment but received no verification or notice of failure to transmit. I am a senior citizen and have no idea what buttons to push.

When you send a SMS Text Message (Green Bubble) then you will not get a sent message confirmation or verification. That is the nature of SMS Text Messaging. If you did not a Failed message, then you should assume that your Text message has gone through.
