Is MacOS Monterey 12.3 trying to slow down my GPUs Performance ?

HI,

I really don't believe rumours and speculations but I think this is really happening to me as well.

Is macOS Monterey 12.3 trying to slow down my GPUs Performance ?

I am using 2 x W6800X Duo and RX 6900XT as eGPU. RX6900XT is really help full and great to use along with my W6800X Duos.

I test my GPU performance like other with Geekbench 5 occasionally and it is recorded in my Geekbench Profile.

I bought the Sapphire RX 6900 XT SE and planned to use with Mac Pro when I bought. But measurement was a bit off so ended in eGPU since then.

This is the fastest score I have ever got over eGPU with iMac.

Sold the iMac later and bought Mac Pro 2019 with W5700X. But RX 6900XT is still in eGPU but drop the performance with newer macOS.

Then upgraded to 12.2

Now . . . I just upgraded to macOS Monterey 12.3 because of Blender statement (https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/gpu_rendering.html)

But after upgraded to 12.3 my RX 6900 XT performance is dropping to the ground. I thought something wrong with my upgrade. So I erased and reinstalled and this is my 3 times already and getting same result.

Please take a look how much it dropped with 12.3

Can you please let me know if I did something wrong anywhere in my installation of macOS 12.3 ?

OR

Is macOS 12.3 is slowing down my RX 6900XT performance as others' saying across the internet ?

Please let me know if I need to delete my partition to get my RX 6900XT performance. This is terrible.

If there is no option then can you please point me to get get Apple Official macOS 12.2 DMG file to download ?

on my Imac 2020 i7 64gb the egpu had a 40% cut in performance and was below the 5500xt onboard, several bugs, such as the screen being blurry. Photoshop and Premiere are unusable with egpu. But what is this? Is Apple forcing us to spend $3,999 on a new machine?

Besides the ridiculous performance, I noticed that in 12.2.1 the test was performed in 42 seconds, now in 12.3 the test takes 78 seconds

Some told me of FB groups that its a synthetic and cannot rely on but many people disagreed.

I tried both macOS Moneterey 12.2.1 and 12.3 today with Unigine Benchmark today. and the result is

Is Unigine Benchmark synthetic too ? All I know is 12.2.1 get more FPS. A few people told me with some coding can alter Geekbench result up to 30% but I have no idea how todo. But why should I .

Today tested again with Geekbench and shockingly Its 60,000 points different with 12.3. some cases 70,000

I have noticed the same issue.

It seems like updating was indeed a bad idea. The MacBook pro 2017 (8GB ram 512 SSD) is unrecognizable since then. The performance is so poor that sometimes it feels like using a Windows 10 with that update issue which makes the computer snail.

Apple doesn't seem to care much about it as I wonder if I should buy a new M1 MacBook and be prepared to face the same issue in 5 years? It doesn't make any sense.

Same issue, not only my GPU, but my entire mac become so slow after the monterey 12.3.1 version, it's unbearable. I am even thinking to sell it. It is so annoying. It doesn't even use the RAM the same way, I used to open about 30-40 tabs on either Chrome or Safari without a problem, now when I updeted to the new 12.3.1 version, I can barely open 15 and I see the spinning weel... They need to FIX this ASAP.

The same issue. I delayed the upgrade until last month. These last 2 weeks are unbearable. I used to enjoy my mini, now it is like a chrome book. I have 30-60 tabs, an ide open and running, and sometimes a movie. Not anymore. 10 tabs, and that is it. Everything is crawling, takes forever to sync. Going to try and reboot as they recommend to see crawl to start.
