What is the maximum amount of photos in an album that can be used as a “memory”? I have some large holiday albums with 600+ photos and the memory video is greyed out and does not work. All OS up to date.

The limit seems to be less than 500 photos. When I make the album smaller than 500 items, I can create a Memory Video, both on my Mac with macOS 12 and my iPhone Pro Max with iOS 15.

The user guide does not say why this limitation. But rendering a slideshow video is needing a lot memory. So it makes sense to limit the size.
And the Memory videos are meant for sharing. It is easier to share two short videos than one long video.
Thanks - do you reckon this will change as do not want to shrink an album only to find out that the capacity changes. Why limited to 500??
Ok thanks - I like having them on the Apple TV - do not share them but understand what you mean.
