Workout App Sending Audio to Apple Watch Instead of Airpods

When I exercise, I bring my iPhone, Apple Watch and Airpods Pro with. I start the Workout App on my Watch and listen to music from my iPhone. I can hear music through my Airpods and messages like leaving an Airtag behind. The messages from the Workout App seem to come from my Watch and it is hard to hear them over the music playing. How do I get messages from my watch to play through the Airpods at the same time as listening to music? Is there an issue with both Watch and iPhone being connected to the Airpods?

Voice Feedback is turned on. That is why I get voice notifications on the watch.

I am aware that I can load playlists on the watch. Unfortunately, the three that I listen to regularly are too big to fit on the watch. I will try to remove enough songs to make them fit.

Due to the limitation of only being allowed to connect to Bluetooth on one device at a time from the Airpods, it will require Apple to make a change to allow this. Since data is exchanged between devices, why can't a software change be made to pass notifications from the watch to the phone and have the phone send it to the Airpods? Another option is to add the Workout App to the iPhone.

Hi AngeloAna,

If we understand correctly, you're hearing most sound through your AirPods, but not the alerts from the Workout app on your Apple Watch. Is that right?

We recommend double-checking your settings using this as a guide: Listen and respond to notifications with AirPods and Beats headphones on Apple Watch

If you don't find an answer there, we recommend using this link to contact Apple directly: Get Support

Take care.

Does it help if you change the settings in Workout > Voice Feedback? See "Adjust Apple Watch during a workout" Start a workout on Apple Watch for more information on settings when starting a workout.

You can also try to play your playlists from the Apple Watch by following "Add a workout playlist to Apple Watch" in Add music to Apple Watch to see if that helps lower the music when you get a notification.

You can add a playlist from your music library that plays automatically when you start a workout in the Workout app on Apple Watch.
Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

Tap My Watch, then tap Workout.

Tap Workout Playlist, then choose a playlist.

The playlist is added to My Watch > Music in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

Note: A workout playlist won’t play if you’re currently listening to other music or audio.

Cheers!
