WiFi and Bluetooth are greyed out

I recently update software to IOS 15.4 on my iPhone 12 Pro. I now have greyed out toggles for WiFi and Bluetooth. I can't google then on.

Do a forced restart:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP
  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN
  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky.

If that doesn’t fix it, restore the phone to factory settings, then to a backup:

  1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
  3. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

And if that doesn’t fix it use the Get Support link at the top of this page to discuss hardware repair options with Apple.

Thanks Lawrence. I tried your suggestion that a few times and haven't had luck yet. I had already done a restore and then restored from my back up. The backup completed recently and the apps are still updating over cellular connection. So, I'll wait until all apps are updated though I can't see why that would interfere with your process). Then I'll try a few more times as you suggest.

Earlier today and yesterday, before I restored the iPhone, if I shut down and and restarted I would get connection to both wifi and bluetooth. But invariably, after some time ranging from 10 minutes to an hour, they would both drop with the toggle buttons locked.
