Need to remove the activation lock to multiple iPads

We recently started doing business with a client and need to enroll their iPad devices into our monitoring system. However, the previous MSP neglected to remove the products from their Apple account during the offboarding process. We need to get the activation lock removed from over 30 iPads so that we can get them managed. Opening a support case will only let me request a removal from 1 device at a time. I need to disable them in bulk. Is there any community members that can assist me with getting in the right place in Apple Support to have this done?

You have many steps ahead of you. If they were enrolled into a previous ABM instance, you'll need to have them transferred to your ABM instance. To have activation lock removed, you'll need proof of purchase (original receipt) or to have the devices in your ABM instance. You can only do 1 device per request. There isn't a bulk request option.

Your other option is to ask the other org for the Activation Lock Bypass code retained by their MDM if the device record is still intact.

What I were to bring the devices into the Apple store, would they be able to directly disable it then? We have the receipts for the iPad orders from when they originally signed on with the previous MSP. I also have all the serial numbers associated with the locked iPads. Or do you still think that trying the deactivate them 1 by 1 is the best method?

They have to generate a ticket for each unlock code they provide. You have to do multiple tickets. The Apple Store may have someone authorized to do it, but not all stores do, and if they do, they usually don't have more than one person who can.
