How to recover deleted text message

First check on your iPhone if

Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Messages : is ON

If it is ON then it is not part of a backup, restoring will not help.

FYI: Restoring from backup is all or nothing deal, you cannot selective restore.

Note: Restore from backup will overwrite whatever is newer than the backup date.

Yes, if you have a backup AND not using iCloud > Messages.

Otherwise it gone, deleted.
