Iphone won't make or receive calls, no voicemail...everything else works?

You most likely will have to contact your carrier to get you iPhone acxivated. See:

If you can't make or receive calls on your iPhone - Apple Support

or try this:

Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
