I want to sign out from my MacBook Air but I don't want to lose the data that I have on my desktop, how do I do that?

If you sign out of your Apple ID preferences on Mac - Apple Support

For Mac OS catalina 10.15.7

Open system preferences , click on Apple ID icon .

Click on overview in the side bar and click on sign out .


Click on keep a copy .

In the next upcoming pop up , click on keep on this Mac .

Enter the Apple ID and password and click on continue .

The Apple ID is completely removed .

Note : before signing out Apple ID from Mac system preferences you must have records of account credentials like password and other in your records for further sign in read the articles Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support
