Do you have a backup of your phone?

Are the messages backed up in it?

if so, you can erase your phone and then set it up using the backup.

do you have messages in iCloud enabled (settings>Apple ID>iCloud)?

if yes, those messages are erased and irrecoverable

If you have a backup that contains the messages, and you do NOT use messages in iCloud, you can erase your device and restore it using your backup. You'll lose anything new since the last backup.
