What is Tracking Notifications on iPhone?
Has anyone seen this before? I don’t have any tracking app downloaded and it’s not affiliated with the Finf My app obviously. I happened to notice this in my notifications on my iPhone.

This feature is to notify you if there’s a device tracking you such as an AirTag. This is a new human trafficking method being used to quietly track (most often) young women and girls to their homes. An air tag is dropped in their bag or attached to their car and when they get home they’re attacked and kidnapped.

You hate the updates because you don't read what was updated. Turning off a setting designed to prevent people from tracking YOU is ridiculous. But feel free to go Android. I guarantee, even with all of Apple's problems, Android will NOT make it easy to protect your privacy. They're owned by Google for God's sake...
I’m just going to turn it off, I HATE this new update! Too many updates, too many things for ppl to track you, invade your privacy, and make it easier for someone to clone your phone… idk, I’m just over it. I’ve had apple products forever now, but I’m about to go full android.
It’s a feature to stop someone tracking you with apples AirTags:
”
AirTag is designed to discourage unwanted tracking. If someone else’s AirTag finds its way into your stuff, your iPhone will notice it’s traveling with you and send you an alert. After a while, if you still haven’t found it, the AirTag will start playing a sound to let you know it’s there.
Of course, if you happen to be with a friend who has an AirTag, or on a train with a whole bunch of people with AirTag, don’t worry. These alerts are triggered only when an AirTag is separated from its owner.
”
This is from Apple website on the feature.

I’m confused. I’ve used Find My for ages and THIS is a new item in notifications. Please explain exactly how to use it. The link you provided does not reference this Notification Setting.
Hi Unsure21,
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! This a a feature on Find My. You can open Find My > Tap Me > Customize Notifications to open the settings for this feature. Check out this resource for Find My to learn more:
Find friends and share your location with Find My
Hope this helps!
Have a great day.
I just became aware of this this week. I don’t have this on my phone, but my son has it on his. It sends him a notice each time I track his location.
If you have given someone permission to track your or someone else is letting you track them then in messages, maps, etc. they want to send you their location that notification will alert you they have done so.
I am wondering if it has something to do with airtag. Maybe? One would think something like "Tracking Notifications" under Notifications would be in reference to an app or make note of what it is.
I have allow apps to request to track just off. So why is this showing there? And wtf where is instagram? It’s not showing up on notifications page.
Hey so I looked at some articles and this is what I found regarding it and what it means.
I chatted with an Apple customer service rep today and they said it has been identified as a bug and might be fixed in the next iOS update. They confirmed it doesn't have to do with AirTags.
I don’t have Air Tags and still I see the same as them
Have you figured any thing out on this? I’m seeing the same thing and need some answers
