iPhone storage full bug - again - anyone else? iOS 15.4

Hey everyone

I have just done the update to iOS 15.4 on my iPhone XR.

Seems the same problem I had with an update late last year with my storage being falsely stating its full and appears under iPhone storage as "system data".

Anyone else had this issue? It also wont let me sync, even tho have tried reducing what its trying to sync and backup as 'not enough space'

Thanks heaps in advance.

I updated To iOS 15 a couple of months ago with a few issues… one thing I noticed was how big the update was, I had to sync and complete the process via my laptop. However there wasn’t any storage warning back then.

Since the newest update 15.4.1 my phone is showing a constant iPhone storage warning - but I have 10 gb (on a 64gb phone) which is more than I’ve had in months.

I can’t get this stupid warning off my phone. I did everything the channels suggest including resetting the phone. As a result I lost my 2 years of progress in a game I was playing!

I have also noticed that I cannot sync my phone to my laptop /iTunes anymore ever since I did the update.

Apple need to fix this now!

Hey Lissy, Thanks for your reply. I have done that prior, and all extra space I create then gets taken up by 'system data'

See attached images/screenshots.

I try to backup, and it tells me it disconnects (which it doesnt) and when I try to sync, it tells me it needs an additional 1.1mb of space.. even after I try to create more by deleting other files/photos etc.

I've not had these issues before, in all the updates and iPhones i have owned. This issue I had when there was an update late last year too with the storage space being used, but was fixed with a bug update that was released.

Hi KiwiCoffeeman,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Are you able to connect to Finder or iTunes to check the storage? The following article can offer guidance on how to do so, specifically the section "Use the Finder or iTunes to check the storage on your iOS device":

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Thanks!

Have a great day.

Other System data is data produced by apps that is not categorised as music, photos etc, very often caches such as in browsers but can be anything.

This below process will remove it but keeping it away means remove apps one by one til you find the culprit.

eg auto downloads in subscribed podcasts etc

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

Don't miss out (2)

I have restored it but as you say it is coming back. Very poor op system if you have to mine around to find a rogue app. I dont think it is an app- there are no apps with automatic download - it all started with upgrade to 15.4 I have had the phone for years with no issue. As i say if this forces me to upgrade the phone it will be to an android
