Unable to update Apple Configurator 2 to version 2.15.1

You might check to see if the app is named "Apple Configurator 2" in your Applications folder. It appears that at one point it was installed this way. When I deleted the app completely and returned to the App Store to re-download it, it installed Version 2.15.1 (7E12) in the Applications folder as "Apple Configurator". This name conflict may may explain the update error (which I was also getting).

I have fixed this. (Without installing Big Slur).

IF like me you had Apple Configurator v 1 back in 2014 and then upgraded to Apple Conf. v2 later around 2016-18 then you will have the 'Apple Configurator 2' app showing on your Dock and in the Applications folder.

Simply open the Applicatrions folder and rename the App removing the '2'. Now delete the Dock shortcut and start the App from the laucher. Once running mark the app again to 'Keep in the dock'.

Now go to the App store and click on the update. YES ... The app now recognises the Name without the '2' and instead of crashing three quarters around the install it completes it and finishes the update.

After starting the app and looking at the 'about' screen I can confirm its v 2.15.1.

On a late 2012 i7 Mac mini server - I can't go above Catalina so upgrading to Big Slur is a no go.

That worked for me! I dragged the app to the trash, entered my credentials to uninstall, and was able to do a fresh install from the App Store. This has been bugging me for weeks. Thank you!

Same error here with macOS Catalina 10.15.7 (19H1824) and Apple Configurator 2.15 already installed.

Each time the installation fails I get this error in the logs:

error	18:52:34.055001+0100	appstoreagent	[UPDF47C1CD3/com.apple.configurator.ui:1037126344] Failing installation after receiving error: Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=501 "Il pacchetto sta cercando ** installare dei contenuti sul volume ** sistema." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Il pacchetto sta cercando ** installare dei contenuti sul volume ** sistema.}

My Mac's primary language is Italian so the localized error description above is in that language but it translates into English as:

"The package is trying to install content on the system volume."

It's time to file a feedback to Apple…

Same issue here. After reading the above, I 2.15 into the Trash and rebooted (not sure that rebooting was necessary but…). The App Store finally allowed 2.15.1 to be installed.

Glad I found this thread though it would be nice if Apple fixed things like this.

Probably not that helpful if you're already up and running with the configurator, but deleting/uninstalling and installing it again from scratch worked on my machine (macOS Catalina 10.15.7).

Same here. Deleting and installing it again has been helped on Catalina 10.15.7.

I'd tried the method above and it work. Had delete the previous version and download as new.
