convert word to pdf

Are you converting to PDF or are you printing to PDF? If you print to PDF there should be no font issues.

If you are doing File > Save As > File Format > Export Formats PDF the results can be unpredictable; and if you select MS Online Service the results can be especially unpredictable.

The only time I've seen that happen was because the font used in the Word doc was not offered in .pdf format. No idea if that was a bug or a feature.
