face ID not working - iphone 13 pro max
I have an iphone 13 pro max and last week the face ID became problematic. ~95% of the time, it gives an error that my passcode is required to enable face ID.
I have tried the following strategies to fix -- in different orders.
Restarted the phone.
Reset face ID.
Turned off face ID with mask
Turned on/off face ID attention requirement.
Also -- the camera is not smudged or dirty and nothing is blocking it.
This is an observation from resetting the face ID. Each time I reset face ID and go to set it up again -- the camera is unable to focus on my face. The white corners appear, and the camera keeps focusing, refocusing, etc, and it gives me an error that my face is out of view (despite it being obvious on my screen that my face is present).
Each time this happened, I re-entered settings->face ID again and disabled attentional features. Then if I select setup face ID it correctly analyzes my face (asks me to rotate and the green circle appears).
At this point, I have had different successes in setting up for a mask, and with glasses. A few times it has successfully analyzed my face for each -- but several times it fails similar to my opening points.
Despite it having detected my face, it no longer works to open the phone.
This is extremely frustrating. Please help!
