airpod pros case thinks its dead

I bought my airpod pros about 10 months ago. I have been using them everyday and charging them every night. One day about 1 week ago the case started acting up and it thinks its dead when its not plugged into a wall. When i plug it in, the case turns on and connects to my phone, but it says that the case is full of battery. The airpods dont charge in the case when its not plugged in and the light on the front of the case dosent turn on. Could it be water damage or poor cleaning?
