Stop iPhone photo syncing to iPad

My iPad is automatically syncing photo from my iPhone which is taking up a lot of space, and I’m using my iPad for work purposes so it’s annoying when personal stuff gets in the way.

How can I stop this sync while still backing up the picture on each device? (Basically backing them up as separate device on under the same apple account, my iPhone and iPad will have different pictures saved on them)

Also would it be safe for me to delete all the photos that’s synced from my iPhone onto iPad, or would that delete pictures on my iPhone?

Thanks!

iPad Air, iPadOS 15

You set this up that is why they are syncing Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support and by doing so they are not part of the icloud or itunes backup.
