M1 MacBook Pro - No HDCP AppleTV movie playback support

I tried playing four newly purchased Apple TV movies on my two day new M1 MacBook Pro 16 using the AppleTV app and I got this error:

"This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)".

Tried with QuickTimePro as well, similar HDCP error on a black screen on the M1 MacBook Pro 16

I had performed a "migration" from a late model 2010 MacBook Pro 17" which also gave the same error when playing the authorized movies. (the migration worked perfectly I might add)

My iPhone 12 ProMax and iPad Pro seem to play the purchased movies just fine, using the AppleTV app.

I am trying to prepare the M1 Mac for a long flight, and wanted to watch a couple movies on it since they no longer accept spinning media.

Is there any solution to this HDCP issue as it would mean I can't play purchased downloaded Apple TV movies on my M1 MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.2
