I deleted my Plug-Ins folder on my mac

I think that I must've deleted my Plug-Ins folder on mac and with it FXPlug and everything in it. This is proving tricky when opening Final Cut Pro X as I do not have any generators, titles, transitions, etc. I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these things. I have spent many days trying. Hoping someone can help, thank you.

I am running macOS Monterey 12.3 on my 2016 Macbook Pro

I am running Final Cut Pro X 10.6

Generators, Titles, Effects and Transitions are templates, not plug-ins.

Are you not seeing any of them? Then your application is probably corrupted.

Delete the application, and download a new copy from the App Store.

Also: delete FCP preferences: To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences. The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

If the issue persists, Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

Oh, and I suggest you bring this up in the Final Cut Pro forum. There are many knowledgeable users of the application in there, and some may not peruse the Monterey forum as much, so you are more likely to get more assistance there.

Hi, yes. I do. I have figured out what exactly is wrong. I am missing my Custom Lut Effect in Final Cut. I thought many things of this issue and have been trying for over a month to resolve it. Today I wiped my Mac clean and started from scratch. I still have, however, the same issue. Though this time when I booted up there was a notification saying I was missing this effect. I figure this must be the reason I cannot import RED R3D files into Final Cut and why everything, Generators including, do not work. All with the red 'missing plug-in' sign. Maybe this changes things. Cheers!

How did you “start from scratch” exactly?

As I have been saying, this looks like damage done by Chrome….

You may see other simple things missing, like Cross Dissolve, for example.

Try this:

1) follow the instructions in https://chromeisbad.com

for removing Chrome and all its keystone daemons and agents

2) drag FCP to the trash and download a fresh copy from the App Store

All should there now.

If not, you can install Chrome again (though I really think you shouldn’t).

If you need stuff that “works with Chrome”, try other Chrome-based browsers that do no seem to have the same issues (eg Brave, Edge or Opera).
