Mac could not connect to android mobile hotspot or USB tethering

Hi,

My MacBook with Monterey would not connect with my mobile hotspot from Samsung Galaxy s20+ nor it allows the mobile to share internet via USB tethering.

I travel a lot and it looks like apple is restricting usage of android devices on my Mac for Internet.

Would appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks in Advance

Hello abhinayah,

We recommend ensuring the steps in the guide here are completed to help you connect: Use a mobile phone to connect your Mac to the internet

If you're unable to open the article, the steps are as follows:

"If your mobile phone isn’t already connected with your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth.

Select your phone in the Devices list. If this device is new to your Mac, click Connect. If you have previously connected this device, double-click it to connect.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Network, then click Bluetooth PAN in the list on the left.

If Bluetooth PAN isn’t available, click the Add button , click the Interface pop-up menu, then choose Bluetooth PAN.

Click the Device pop-up menu, choose your phone, then click Connect.

A six-digit number may appear on your Mac and cell phone. Follow your cell phone manufacturer’s directions for pairing with a bluetooth device."

Additionally, be sure your Android is set up to connect and test a hardwired connection using the steps here: Share a mobile connection by hotspot or tethering on Android

Cheers!
