If I change Apple ID region will my App Store change to that new region?

Hello all,

Can't figure this one out: if I change Apple ID region will my App Store change to that new region? And what will happen with all my purchases made in the "old" store? Will I be able to RE-DOWNLOAD them if I don't have a payment method in that "old" region? I mean, I can switch IDs now to access two different stores. One store is in one country, the other is in another country. If I "move" one of these IDs to another region (country) without changing the ID itself (only the region), I will apparently "move" to that "new country's" store. The question is, will I be able to re-download my purchases from the "old country's" store, if I need to? Or they'll be lost forever?

Example:

ID_01 is in Country_01. Purchased 1 item in that Country's store.

Now I change the region (country) for ID_01, and it is now ID_01 (same ID) but for Country_02. The item purchased in Country_01's store IS available in Country_02's store. Question: will I be able to re-download it from Country_02's store as if it was purchased there or I will need to re-purchase it now one more time in Country_02's store?

Another scenario:

ID_01 is in Country_01. Purchased 1 item in that Country's store.

Now I change the region (country) for ID_01, and it is now ID_01 (same ID) but for Country_02. The item purchased in Country_01's store IS NOT available in Country_02's store. Question: will I be able to re-download it from Country_01's store and if yes, how (the region has been changed, and now my ID is not linked to Country_01's store, as I understand.

Someone please explain this to me.

And (rather a rhetorical) question: if I already paid for an app in one place, why should I pay for the same app one more time in another place? Why can't ID's be merged for people to keep purchases?

Hello Moses3d,

When you change regions, it changes the region for everything associated with that Apple ID.

What this means is that you will still be able to use the apps purchased in the original region, but may not be able to update them due to availability in different regions.

According to Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support, these are the things you should do before you change your region:

• Spend any balance remaining on your Apple ID. If you're not sure whether you have a balance, check your Apple ID balance.

• Cancel your subscriptions and wait until the end of the subscription period.

• Wait for any memberships, pre-orders, movie rentals, or Season Passes to complete, and wait for any pending store credit refunds to process. You can cancel a pre-order.

• Make sure that you have a payment method for your new country or region. See what payment methods you can use.

• Redownload your apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books on any devices that you might use to play or read them in the future. Some types of content might not be available in your new country or region. Learn what types of content and services are available in your new country or region.
