Photos imported to MacBook can transfer to iCloud automatically?

I imported photos from memory card to photos app in my MacBook Air and have 200 GB storage in my iCloud account.The photos imported in MacBook can be uploaded to iCloud automatically if I leave open my comp.?

Open Preferences in Photos and enable the iCloud function:
