My computer will not let me close out of iMovie.

Go to the Apple logo item in the main menu and click on Force Quit in the drop down menu. In the dialogue box that appears, click on iMovie and then the Force Quit box in the lower right corner.

Alternatively, you can shut down the computer and then reboot as normal.
