GarageBand - iOS to MacOS Compatibility Issue

Hey! So the workflow I’m going for is:

1) Start initial song idea in GarageBand on iPhone, using software instruments.

2) Later, open that session in GarageBand on MacBook Pro, where I can replace them with real instruments.

But the issue is that whenever I open up a GarageBand session that originated on iOS, my audio inputs don’t work. And it’s definitely not some simple setting I have wrong, because I can immediately start a new session right there on the MacBook, and all the inputs work perfectly fine, without having to change anything.

My software:

GarageBand 2.3.12 on iOS 15.4

GarageBand 10.4.6 on MacOS Monterey 12.2.1

My hardware:

iPhone XS Max

MacBook Pro 2018

Avid Mbox Mini as audio interface

Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks!

Hey there wwjbd,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to provide some assistance.

See if setting the input source helps after opening the session on your Mac by following the steps under the "Set the input source for a microphone" here:

Connect a microphone to use with GarageBand on Mac

If the issue persists, does this occur with multiple audio inputs? If so, please contact Apple directly to investigate:

We hope this helps.

Have a great day!
