How to connect an old iPhone to a Mac running macOS Catalina or higher?

So, I decided to sync my iPhone 4s to my iMac, but when I connected, it wouldn't show up in the Finder.(Yes, I used a dongle, but it's definitely not a problem with that). My Mac doesn't have a problem, because my iPhone X syncs fine with it. So how do I fix this?

Well, instead of buying one, I just stumbled across a different cable. It still didn't sync with my iMac! (Sorry for replying so late, I just found that cable now. I had remembered that I had lost one in 2019 and it just popped up in my cable box. Earlier I had looked everywhere for it!)
