Did you use iCloud to sync your contacts? If yes, follow the steps in this article:
Restore contacts stored in iCloud on iCloud.com - Apple Support
If you did not sync contacts with iCloud, restoring from your latest backup might bring the info back. But all other settings and data will be set back to the time of the backup as well.
