An iMac 27” 2017 running Sierra 10.12 (per the footer) can be upgraded to current; to Monterey.

How to upgrade to macOS Monterey - Apple Support

Have a backup prior to the upgrade.

Confirm all apps and all printer and scanner drivers are 64-bit or have 64-bit updates, or alternatives, available from the vendors.

You can use the Go64 tool to find any of these older 32-bit apps. This includes updating Office 2011 or earlier to Office 2016 or later—Office 2021 and Office 365 subscriptions are current—or to an alternative such as LibreOffice or Apple iWork Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, as older Office is 32-bit.
