Deleting local snapshots on macOS Monterey using terminal

Hello @everyone,

Recently I tried to erase my HD using Recovery Mode and after a new installation of macOS Monterey, I see my HD with 5 different volumes. Why is not just one?

How can I erase at 100% my disk?

Furthermore I see that there is a local snapshot of 15GB installed.

How can I delete it? Also I would disable the automatic local snapshot using, it is possible?

Thank you!

Thats the way it is done. The System is separated from data and there are also several Utility volumes that were once folders buried inside the system. The system is read-only, so those items were separated out of the system volume.

Same as you always could, except yo have to “Show all devices@ from the View menu and erase the device. If it is an M1 (Apple Silicon) Mac, don’t do that.

That’s not a local snapshot. It is a sealed snapshot of the system volume. That is what is used to boot your Mac.
