Mac 3,1 question

I just upgraded my 3,1 MacPro cpu, after putting everything back together, it does not recognize my ssd drive which is the boot drive.

I put a USB drive with high Sierra and it boots, the screen on the picture attached.

I've tried all 4 drive slots available and no luck.

Any ideas on why it's not recognizing the ssd boot drive?

It was working fine before the upgrade.

Mac can’t find boot drive after restart, but does if turned off and then back on. I recently installed Mac OS on a USB 3.0 external SSD, and have encountered an issue that I can’t seem to fix. I already tried disk utility and running first aid on the drive in question, but that hasn’t helped. The issue is if I reset the system, it will not boot up and displays a folder with a question mark in it. But if I power the system off and turn it back on, it boots from the external SSD with no issue. I was able to install the latest update, but had to power off the system manually twice to get the update installed. I can’t find an answer using google search, so I’m hopeful that someone on her can help me with this issue. Thanks in advance 🙂

Adding a new SSD prevent loading MacOS on the first one Hi, I have an iMac from 2013 with MacOS 10.15.7. Since the internal hard drive is slow, i have installed the MacOS on a 2To external SSD. So far so good : everything looked great and my computer worked fine. I recently add a new 4To SSD using an USB3 port of my iMac. When i start now my computer, the boot disk is not recognized anymore and a black screen appears. When i disconnect the new 4To SSD, eveything works well again... Since i would like to be able to leave the new SSD connected to my computer when i start it up, what should i do ? I have tried to reinstalled MacOS on the internal hard drive but it did not change anything. So i uninstalled it again. Any suggestion that could help will be highly appreciated :-) As you can see, all SSD has been erased using APFS format with GPT :

Cannot see Main SSD when booting in recovery mode I got a folder with a Q mark Booted into recovery mode,Attached a bootable USB drive Cannot see main SSD. Can only See USB drive (external) & a 2 GB Mac OS base system (Internal) Tried Internet recovery, still cannot see internal main SSD Would appreciate help please to reinstall OS.

The STOCK Mac Pro 3,1 supports up to unmodified MacOS 10.11 El Capitan, ONLY.

Any later MacOS installs would require unsupported hobbyist Hacks or Patchers.

We are discouraged from posting complete instructions for doing this, as it may lead you or novice users into destructive or dangerous areas.

Please let Readers know if this is sufficient to lead you to a solution.
