store Pages document in git repository?

I am using Pages to write a document associated with a software project. The project is stored in a git repository on GitHub. I plan to store the PDF version of the document in the project's git repository.

I am wondering if I should also store the .pages file in the git repository. That feels like where it belongs, so all project files are in the same place, and all changes to code or doc are tracked by git.

Does anyone have experience or advice about storing a Pages document in git repository?
