MacBook Pro with low resolution display options for external monitor

My Mac doesn't offer any higher resolution than 1600 x 900 for my LG Full HD 21.5" monitor. Consequently my display is very blurry. Why?

I have a MacBook Pro running MacOS Monterey 12.3 w/ the Intel UHD Graphics 630 integrated graphics card connect via USB-C cable.

Hey Chuck-Koverse,

If you aren't seeing the display resolution you expect, try the following:

  • In System Preferences > Displays, make sure you are holding the Option key when you click Scaled to see additional resolutions.
  • Make sure the firmware on your display is up to date
  • Restore your display to defaults in the internal menu system.

If those steps don't resolve the issue, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.
