Message keeps coming up telling me my iPadPro is no longer with me even though it is

When I leave the house with both my iPhone 10S and my 2021 iPadPro, I often get a message as I’m driving down the highway coming from what appears to be “Find My” that says,

“MyiPad left behind”

“This device is no longer detected near you…. It was last seen near blah, blah, blah”

And “blah, blah” is always right where I am at that moment….

Both my iPhone that is receiving this message and my iPad are right there together….

So what’s up with that???

I just opened "Find My" on my MacBook Pro and it sees ALL of my active apple devices where they should be... But when I leave home with the iPhone and the iPad, why does it not realize I am in transit with TWO of the devices??? I never get a message about my iPhone also being in the same remote place??? Confused...

iPad Pro, iPadOS 15

Hi there Robert,

This is unusual behavior, especially since you mentioned both devices show the correct locations when you check, even after receiving the message about your iPad being left behind.

As you have compatible models, the latest versions are iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If both devices already have their latest compatible OS versions, has a restart been tried? If not, this link shows how to Restart your iPhone, and this one shows how to Restart your iPad.

We also found a workaround in the link Set up and use Notify When Left Behind in the Find My app under the section 'Add locations where you don't want to be notified'.

Cheers!
