iTunes File Mapping (PLIST, DB, XML, etc) Win 10 to Win 11
My computer bricked but luckily I did a full backup. Old PC was Win 10, new one is Win 11. Getting iTunes back to where it was used to be easy on Win 10 machines, you just copied the library and the contents of these 3 folders:
- C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\
- This had numerous preferences, sync logs, PLIST files, etc.
- C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes\
- This had a DB file, XML, and additional PLIST files
- iTunes Library location (which for me was a different internal drive)
So the GOOD news is since I had a full backup, I have all these files. The BAD news is, after way too much googling, I have no idea where to put them in Windows 11. What I'm currently looking at in iTunes are outdated playlists (I did an import of the only ITL file I could find).
Can anyone tell me if there's a direct mapping from the Windows 10 directories (above) to Windows 11? In a perfect world I could just put all those files in the right Windows 11 directories and iTunes could sort it out. That actually worked going from a Windows 10 to a Windows 10 machine. Otherwise I will have lost countless hours it took to build all these playlists and iTunes on my PC will serve as nothing more than a place to backup my phone...if I can't sync playlists it's pretty useless to me.
Thanks,
Brian
