How do I edit the text of a link within the Notes app from my iphone?

When you put a link in the Notes app on your Mac, you can edit the text. So that way it says "FAQ" instead of "www.apple.com/faq" (that's a made up example). How do I do this on the iphone?

Thanks for the additional clarification, emilyjames1214.

That is not a feature that is available within iOS. If you would like this feature to work the same as it does on the Mac, you can leave feedback about that here: Product Feedback - Apple

We do have one work around you can use in the mean time.

If you copy the link then paste it into Notes, you can press and hold the space bar and move your cursor to the inside of the link. Once there, you can type the word you want to show then move your cursor again to backspace and remove the rest of the link. As long as you enter the word into the middle of the link and then remove the rest of the letters, it will link to that same link using only one word.

Kindest regards.

I have not had the option before on my phone. It’s probably there, but I don’t know how to do it, which is what I’m asking.

What I want to do is attach a link to text. Or another way of saying it is, I want to edit what shows up on the link.

For the example I gave above, I want it to appear as “FAQ”, but when you click on it, it takes you to the full web address.

Here is how you do it on a Mac:

  • Select the text to change to a link, choose Edit > Add Link, then type or paste the URL.

I got that from this:

Add links in Notes on Mac - Apple Support

Attached is a screen shot from my phone. You’ll see links that I edited, but I did them on my Mac. Each link takes you to a full web address.

Thanks!

Hi. Thanks for the tip. Sadly, I tried it and it did not work. When you are in a note on your iPhone and try it, here’s what happens

1) type a web address (www.Apple.com)

2) the link isn’t live until you click “done” in the upper right hand corner

3) when you go back into edit mode in the note, the link is no longer live and just becomes text.

Am I doing it wrong?

Hello emilyjames1214,

You can find the steps to format notes and add links to notes here: Use Notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

With Notes, you can pin your top notes, draw, create checklists, scan and sign documents, and add attachments — like photos, videos, or web links.

Just to confirm, it seems like you want to know if you can add a link to text in notes on your iPhone, is that correct? Have you had that option in the past on your iPhone? To help us get a better understanding of the situation, can you confirm which iOS version your device is running?

Here's how to find the iOS version: Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Thanks!
