‘No password provided for...’ issue of apple mail service

Date: 3-30-2022

I added a new email address to my iPhone 12pro. running iOS 15.3.1 It added fine and is functional.

I attempted to add the same address to my iPad pro running iOS 15.4.

I have tried every possible reset, logged out and back into my iCloud account on every level.

Am running the newest iOS on the iPad.

Still seeing this same error message even when all the settings are identical to those that work on the iPhone.

Delete the mail account from the iPad, restart the iPad, then add the account back. Make sure that it verifies correctly. The password provided has to do with your mail password, so if that is causing an issue, look at the settings on your iPhone and compare them with your iPad.

Excuse me, but I seem to have missed that line in your original post. There is no screenshot as it was edited by the moderators. Evidently you posted personal information so it was removed. Not knowing what email provider this account is with, I would suggest that you contact their support for assistance in adding their account to your iPad. You also have the option to contact Apple Support by using the Get Support link at the top of the page here or if you have an Apple Store close by, you can make a Genius Bar appointment to have Apple examine your problem. One other comment, many email providers now require app specific passwords for accounts when using the native Apple Mail app, and it could be this mail account may require this. Examples are AOL and Yahoo.

@ChrisJ4203 -

I've edited the screenshot to show the error message.

I have 7 email accounts on based from my domain, all running from the same server and same website host (Siteground).

None of the email accounts require device-specific passwords.

All are working fine on 3 different devices (ipad, iphone, MBP)

I've checked and rechecked that in every instance where a password is requested or optional- it has been filled in correctly. (Copy/paste).

I have duplicated exactly the settings for the same account from iPhone (where it works fine) to Ipad where I continually get this error pop-up.

I've deleted the account several times, shut off the iPad, and restarted.

Still no joy.

@ChrisJ4203- Please note...

As stated in my original query:

"Still seeing this same error message even when all the settings are identical to those that work on the iPhone."

I have deleted the account several times and started from scratch.

Also I logged out and then back into my icloud account.

Have already reset the password in mail accounts to try a different one.

checked that everything is IDENTICAL in the settings for the new mail account on the iphone and the ipad and still recieivng the error when I try to set the mail account up on iPad.
