How do I change Contacts.app icon on Mac to the same icon as on iOS?

It doesn't make sense to me, that the icon for Contacts is different on the Mac and iPhone. I tried changing it, as I have with other apps and folders, but it doesn't work. What's the point of two different icons for the same application?

Mac mini, macOS 12.3

ok, well since you know the "basics" of changing your icons, for some apps, (such as contacts) you need to create a "duplicate"

you will then have a "contacts copy" app. and then, you change the icon of the duplicate. after you change said icon, you can erase the word "copy" from the duplicate. the "new" icons will then appear on your launchpad page.

but if you are using your applications folder to launch your apps, the outcome of the above steps will be less than desirable, as you will have "duplicates" for many of your apps.

Right, jeffreythefrog, I've been doing that for years, and it has worked for folders and files (including apps)... but not for Contacts. Sometimes, it's a little tricky to change the icon for OS apps. For example, I found the standard Mac icon for Calculator sort of melts into the dock's background. Initially, I ran into the same problem as the Contacts.app when I tried to change the icon to something more eye-catching. Eventually, I discovered that I could duplicate the app, and then change the icon on the duplicate. I tried that with Contacts, but nope.
