Verizon link hack

I received a text from a close contact, when I opened the text and read it, I clicked the link... It took me to a site that appeared to be Verizon- stating my account was paid, but I don't have a Verizon account and as soon as I realized what I had done- my phone screed popped up that I had been hacked. Is this legit? Has anyone else encountered this? What do I do to check or protect my phone.

I immediately turned my phone off and left it sit for a bit, and it was working fine until that pop up came back earlier today and it said my phone was hacked and I am being tracked. Any help is appreciated.

Your iPhone is not hacked.

You just got a scam message, delete & ignore.

You can delete your Safari app from the App Tray (most recently used)

Then go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
