Help! Trying to download Mac OS X Lion to MacBook Air 2011 but keep getting "can't download the additional components needed to install Mac OS X". Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Where are you downloading from? Whatever link you use should open to the App Store to get the full version.
That is correct. You must have 10.6.6 Snow Leopard or later to install Lion. The other person has a 2011 MacBook Air that came with Lion preinstalled. Earlier Macs would need a minium of Snow Leopard 10.6.6 to update to anything later.
My Ginger, This copy says it needs to have OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later or OS X Lion 10.7 already installed! So will it install anyway without 10.6.6 up to 10.7?
