You can charge the battery when convenient to do so or when needed. Leaving the computer plugged in will not damage the computer nor the battery. The MacOS manages the computer's charging/power system very well. There is no need for you to micromanage the system.
Charge t when it needs it or plug into charger when not in use. It is up to you as there is no good or bad answer as the Mac hardware and software manages the charging for the best life time.
