Sharedfilelistd is recently causing 7 minute startup time

I'm currently using Catalina 10.15.7 on my late 2013 mac pro. Recently, when my computer starts up, it takes about 1 minute to arrive at the desktop screen, but then the finder does the spinning beach-ball for another 5 minutes and 30 seconds. At exactly 6 minutes and 30 seconds of startup time, the finder then reveals my various volumes and desktop icons and the computer then works perfectly and is very stable. The entire time while the finder is "Not Responding" as shown in the force-quit window and activity monitor, Sharedfilelistd is at 100% or more of CPU usage in the Activity Monitor and using 13 to 15 threads.

As soon as the 6.5 minutes are up during startup that process drops down to almost nothing and my computer then is perfectly stable. Also, during this time when the finder is unusable, I'm able to use Chrome and other apps as long as they don't use the finder. I have started in safe mode, I have tried my other user accounts, which are fine. I have started up with every device disconnected except for the keyboard and trackbnall. None of that solved this issue. I've also started up in recovery mode and reinstalled catalina but that didn't improve anything. I really need to figure this out as it is ridiculous how long it takes for the computer to restart/boot-up. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I had this exact problem, and after months of just leaving the computer on, I think I found a solution:

Go to ~/library/application support/ and delete the folder named: com.apple.sharedfilelist

Give it a try!

Hello, I am also having this issue with Catalina 10.15.7, but on my 2019 Mac Pro. I currently have a Support case open with Apple to try to resolve. It appears to be isolated to the main user account, as when I create an alternative admin account, sharedfilelistd doesn't hold up the system (although it did appear in the Activity Monitor briefly)

I'll report back if there's a good solution, but so far these are the things I have tried unsuccessfully (directed by Support)

Removed all login items

Deleted some LaunchDaemon prefs

Booted in safe mode

Booted in Recovery mode and Reset system Permissions

Reinstalled MacOS (not fresh install)

Next step is to transfer data from one user account to another
