keychain will not save printer password (Sharp)

Every time I go to print, the printer dialogue box asks for the password.

I enter it, I select the checkbox for it to be remembered in keychain, it prints.

When I go to run another print, it never remembers the password automatically.

I always have to re-enter the password each time I print.

Apple support responded to a similar question with a link to this document: "If iCloud Keychain won't turn on or sync" which is not helpful.

Does anyone know how to correct this issue?
