Here’s what I want to do. I want all my up to date files stored in the My Documents folder on my Mac. I want to back up all of these files with the Time Machine to an external drive. Then I want my iCloud account setting to be that all my desktop and documents folders are backed up to my iCloud Drive.

Will doing this mean I will always have the latest file versions on my Mac and in the cloud?

And turn on desktops and documents box Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple Support

Then archive the files Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support
