Bypass charge screen upon no battery

I dropped my old iPad many years ago, then lost it, and found it. I think the battery might be broken. I plugged it in, plugged it for about 5 min, and it still shows a red battery on a black screen. Is there a way to bypass this and be able to use the iPad while plugged in constantly? It's an iPad 2 16 GB A1395

Hi MacBookAirRetina,

We understand that you've got an iPad that is starting up to a red battery symbol. While you can't bypass the battery charge, there are some steps you can try from If your iPad won't charge that may help. Let's try the following:

  1. Try using a different power adapter or a different charging cable.
  2. Make sure that your iPad isn't too hot or too cold. Learn about keeping your iPad within acceptable operating temperatures.
  3. Try force restarting your iPad. For an iPad without a Home button: Press and quickly release the volume button closest to the top button. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button. Press and hold the top button until your iPad restarts.

The iPad shown in the picture appears to be damaged, and may be damaged enough that it may no longer be functional. In that case, please visit iPad Service and Repair for more assistance.

Thanks!
