ScreenTime Website Blocks Not Working on M1 MacBook Pro

I recently upgraded to the M1 MacBook Pro from a 2020 16” intel based MBP. On the older MBP sceentime worked as expected. I blocked a few sites using screentime and the block worked as expected on all browsers.

However, on the new M1 Pro with the same setup for screentime doesn’t work as expected. The blocked sites are ignored on Chrome.

Any ideas as to why?

Hello Jengineer16,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We will be happy to look into this issue with you concerning Chrome! To start with, make sure that the Google Chrome app is up-to-date. Learn how to Update apps or use automatic downloads.

Then:

  1. On the device in question, go to this address: chrome://flags/
  2. Then search for "screentime" (all one word).
  3. You should see: Enables ScreenTime Integration
  4. Switch this to ENABLED.

Let us know if this helps,

Cheers!

Thanks for letting us know. There is a new release of macOS Monterey, 12.3.1. Let's make sure you're updated: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

To confirm, does this work as expected with other browsers like Safari?

Have you also tried blocking other websites as a test to see if the same thing occurs or is it just with these specific ones? Change Content & Privacy preferences in Screen Time on Mac - Apple Support
